Working with Eli
... you understand therapy is work and you are prepared to do that work.
We get the most out of therapy when we are willing to engage in the work. My role as your therapist and teammate is to guide our sessions, provide tools, help you explore challenges and find solutions, and be a safe and non-judgmental presence to hold space for your experience. I can (and will!) encourage you to do the work of therapy, but I cannot do that work for you.
... you are collaborative.
As your clinician, I bring a specific set of skills to our sessions that aid in healing and exploration. However, you are the expert on yourself and your experience. We will work collaboratively to attend to your needs so that you are an active and empowered participant in your own healing.
... you do not see therapy as a means to "fixing" you.
You are not broken and do not require fixing. In therapy, my goal is to deepen understanding, find meaning, build resilience, and bring about healing.
We might work well together if...
We might not be a good fit if...
...you are looking for a specific type of therapy that I do not provide.
... you are seeking help for one of the following:
... you are looking for a "quick fix".
There are many ways to provide therapy, and each approach has its unique benefits. Please see my "About" page for more information about my approach to determine if what I offer aligns with what you're looking for.
Dissociative Identity Disorder, personality disorders, psychosis, substance use or addiction, domestic violence, high level crisis/ instability that may need team-based care, or career counseling.
As explained above, therapy is a process and not a quick fix to the challenges you experience. There are therapists who provide brief solution-focused therapy for specific things, but I do not offer that in my work.
